Tonight’s presentation is part 2 of a 2-part series, and focuses on East Africa.  Bring your questions and sense of adventure and explore Africa with Ron Glazier.  Through stories and anecdotes gleaned from 15 safaris to the African bush Ron Glazier reveals, through photos and narrative, what you might expect to discover during a photo safari. Africa has been a life-long passion for Glazier and his travels have taken him to the vast Serengeti plains of East Africa; the Ngorongoro Crater, the African “Garden of Eden”; the famed Okavango Delta and Kalahari Desert of Botswana; the “smoke that thunders”, the local native name of Victoria Falls; the deserts of  Namibia; and even a penguin rookery near Cape Town, South Africa.

Glazier holds graduate degrees in animal ecology and animal behavior, which combined with his 37 years in the zoo field, blends an academic perspective with real-life animal experience in the interpretation of African wildlife, culture, and geography.  Now retired and living in Bellingham, Glazier is always planning his next African adventure, which also allows him to pursue his other passion of nature photography.

Every Tuesday in August, Village Books will celebrate the breadth of expertise in area by offering our “Locals in the Know” series.  This diverse showcase is but a sampling of the expansive knowledge our neighbors possess, and is sure to spark some engaging summer conversations.
